These are a few of my favorite things

1. Stylin', chunky baby boys

2. Brother cuddle time

3. My 9 month old's first word is "mama". I was first referred to as "bubba", now it is clearly "mama"!

Can I rack up frequent flyer points at the doctor?

Other mommies out there, please tell me you have days that you just want to see 8pm chime on the clock so you know life can slow a little. Today was one of those days. Abram's ear tugging prompted us to stop by my mom's nursing office at school. One look in and yup, there was redness. Off to the doctor in the late morning and a firm diagnosis. Stop off at the pharmacy and then back home. Upon opening the prescription I notice we were given Augmentin. Abram is allergic to penicillin so back to the doctor for an alternate med. 2:50 roles around and back to the doctor again for Ayden's H1N1 vaccine. Remember we live in a small town so the workers at the clinic had strange looks on their faces when they saw us pass by a 3rd time. Do all these visits earn me any rewards other than a pat on the back? I think the clinics coffee shop should include punches for visits with 3 kids in tow. I'd have a free peppermint mocha by now!

Is it Stage Fright?

Abram is nearing the 10 month mark. He continues to be an easygoing, mellow babe. He has zero interest in crawling, loves to be read to, will eat anything from kiwi, to avocado, to eggplant without a problem, does not like when things crash over (e.g. a tower of blocks) and he still will only perform tricks on his own timeline. The one thing that is a guarantee with him, he will greet you with a game of peekaboo each time you wake him from rest. Here is video of that and also a video from today of him feeding himself. For most this may seem like an insignificant feat, for Abram it is huge. He is atypical when it comes to the obsession of mouthing things. He puts NOTHING in his mouth, in fact, until today we had to force him to pick something up and bring it to his mouth. Don't ask me why, I'm as surprised as anyone. I thought all babies put EVERYTHING in their mouths.

Lost in translation

Aubrey was eating her sandwich for lunch and wasn't convinced that the sunflower seeds in the bread were necessary. I went on to say that her uncle Bill (my sister's hubby) loves sunflower seeds. Thinking of Bill she said, "he's hot, isn't he mom"?

Hmmmm, where did she get that? I asked her what she meant and she said, "he's handsome, like daddy".

Ah ha, on Sunday morning I described to the kids reasons I married daddy, amongst them was that he was "hot". They were confused by the use of an adjective that is usually associated with the midday sunshine or the soup on the stove. I explained that being "hot" can also mean handsome.

Conclusion, although I am happy my girl finds her uncle to be handsome, we need to have a talk on the meaning of "tact"!

Pumpkin Party 2009

Okay, I finally got the pictures up. It is now 11:31pm on Sunday night and after fighting with Windows Movie Maker for a couple nights (I am not a fan) the audio/music is not coming through. So, as you watch you can imagine the "Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown Waltz" in the background. It was befitting, its just Emily's lack of intelligence when it comes to technology that forbids you from enjoying the full experience. Enough about that, and without further with do........

Blaze Orange would have come in handy today

I know this post still isn't Pumpkin Party photos. Apologies, I still haven't got a hold of my mom's camera with some of the good photos on it. So, you get a post about today. It was a magnificent day of sunshine and family. After breakfast we loaded up kids in the bike trailer and one kid on his little bike (he is in REAL need of a larger one, I know) and biked to Spicer on the bike path. It is a 12 mile out and back and Ayden took on 1/2 of that on his little two wheels. What a trooper. Waiting 3 miles into the ride was a trip to the DQ for lunch and dessert and playtime at the park. If that wasn't incentive enough, we also got to have Gma and Gpa Schueler meet us in Spicer. The kids played and giggled and had a marvelous time. Mom and dad played and giggled too, maybe even harder. The one thing that slipped our mind was that it was deer hunting opener. Now, the Glacier Lakes Trail follows an old railroad bed through the country up to our neighboring town of Spicer. Since I don't have a hubby who hunts like the other 500,000 hunters out there today in the state of Minnesota, it had not occurred to me that it would have been wise to ride our bikes while wearing blaze orange. So, as we rode and passed by men with guns and blaze orange and deer stands galore this momma was singing at the top of her lungs and calling out "we are NOT deer" quite loudly. I like to think I kept us safer doing this and yet another part of me kind of thinks those hunters were so upset that I was singing so obnoxiously and scaring their deer away that they may have considered taking a shot at me to keep me quiet. Either way we made it there and back with no problem and had a great time enjoying an incredible Autumn day as a family. Thank you Lord for keeping us safe and giving us a wonderful day!

Coming Soon

We had a wonderful Pumpkin Party here last Friday night. Thank you so much to everyone who came, helped, and made it a blessed night of fellowship. We had 66 people here with 32 1/2 (Revis and Julie's little one in utero gets a nod) being kiddos. I have taken the past few days off to just sit, enjoy some coffee and the paper, so hence the slow update on the blog. I also know my mom has some great photos from the evening that I would like to download before posting. So please check back in the next few days to view the crazy fun that filled our four walls.
